How Does One Improve On Department Of Eagles' Album Cover?

We at the Lipster are lucky cats. Nice press people are sending us stuff on the daily. And that is lovely, obviously. But sometimes we get a bit tired and make arbitrary decisions on what we will spend an hour listening to, and what we will not. THIS IS WHY the album cover is very important...

The Walkmen Answer Some Damned Silly Questions

The Walkmen's third album, You & Me, is out this week, and it is not putting too fine a point on it to say that it is absolutely bloody marvellous. We talked to front fellow Hamilton Leithauser about tennis shoes, fantasy collaborators and - justcallusRobertPeston - the credit crunch.

Yo Majesty - Futuristically Speaking... Never Be Afraid

Yo Majesty's debut album is properly mental. We tried listening to it on a Monday morning once and it was not a success. However we have listened to it on Thursday night, Friday afternoon, Saturday day and Sunday lunch, and at all of those times it works. It's insanely danceable in parts, riot grrrl shouty in others, and the only drawback is that its length makes it a bit sloppier than necessary. But it is still loads of fun. Here it is, in pictures.

WIN! A Rude T-Shirt, Courtesy Of The Virgins

If you squint, this Virgins T-shirt is not very rude. If you look closer you'll see that it is really quite naughty indeed, what with it featuring lots of penises engaged in what can only be described as filth. We are too prudish to wear it out of the house, and so would like to offer it to you, dear, brave reader, as a competition prize.

WIN! BT Digital Music Awards Tickets

Apparently this "digital" lark is the thing of the future. So we're offering you the chance to win a pair of tickets to the BT Digital Music Awards 2008, which take place in London on October 1. We're not sure who's playing yet, but expect live bands and general award ceremony shenanigans (for example, a Crib slicing themselves open with a table - NB this is not guaranteed). It should be a Good Night.

Ladyhawke On Her Favourite Video Games

On the cover of Ladyhawke's mindblowingly awesome debut album (review coming on Monday), a painted Pip Brown is playing video games and has a Nintendo gun tucked into her pants. We got geeky with her in London a couple of weeks ago and talked games, console collections and how to make Wii characters gay...

The Streets - Everything Is Borrowed

We tried to like Everything Is Borrowed because it's got that nice way of being really jaunty musically while having depressing lyrics about the end of the world. But after much playing of it, we have come to the conclusion - and it breaks our heart to even say it - that it is a bit like what your sixth form would've come up with if they were asked to make a musical about climate change. With a touch more charm and cheek. In pictures:
