For the uninitiated, Buraka Som Sistema look like this:

Their names are Lil' John, Riot, Conductor and Kalaf. Their hobbies are wearing nice hoodies, being Portuguese and fusing techno, hip hop and drum'n'bass with Angolan Kuduro music. Would you like to be their friend?

The thing is, readers, it is all very well us giving you the potted history / list of influencezzzzzzzzz / making up another dance music genre which you will sort of 'get', but this will ultimately not help you in your enjoyment of their music. What you need to know is that Buraka are one hundred times more exciting than every single guitar band put together and skyscrapers ahead of the current indie 'scene'. Their music makes you want to GO OUT. And you cannot say that of The Courteeners, no matter what Liam "Still Lives With His Mam" Fray will tell you.

ANYWAY.

Earlier this week we were very tired. Having only managed to steal three hours sleepy in 24 hours, the following day was fuzzy as a jumper and terribly drear. We were attempting to sort this out via the twin joys very strong coffee / massaging ProPlus into our eyeballs. But that was not working. And then we had a listen to their mixtape.

The following email exchange occurred. First this from Becca:

Just think, readers, we could have 'set those off' to play all at once. That would wipe the sleepy dust from your eyes, would it not?
