Karen O plays solo show, sailor-style
New York never seemed so far away as it did last night, when Karen O debuted her new solo project Native Korean Rock to a tiny crowd in Brooklyn. We, obviously, were not there. However, blogs Music Slut and Self-Titled did attend, and this is what we learned from them.
Responding to requests for YYYs classics, a 'playful' Karen O said, "This isn't a fucking Yeah Yeah Yeahs show! This is something different!" (Self-Titled)
"She's gone a bit emo" (Self-Titled)
"Her demure side is just as impressive & captivating" (Music Slut)
"The stage was adorned quite eloquently with a Korean flag, ample blue cellophane & a partial ship bow (which read 'Seoul'). Key elements of Karen's outfit included roses, fringes & a spectacularly detailed navy blue cap." (Music Slut)
"Karen’s bandmates, drummer Brian Chase and guitarist Nick Zinner were both in attendance tonight along with a freshly-groomed Kyp Malone. None of the above guested, however." (Self-Titled)
So there you have it. It's as if you were there, isn't it? No? Oh.
