The La Roux Pie Chart Of Brilliance
Roby and I got sent La Roux sample CDs a couple of weeks ago and we were both tremendously excited to hear it, since Quicksand has already proven itself to be officially amazing. And hear it we did, over and over and over. Because it is great. So great, in fact, that we made a pie chart about it.
Here is the La Roux Pie Chart Of Brilliance, which breaks down what exactly makes her so tops. You can click it to make it bigger:

Allow us to explain.
Things Roby thinks are brilliant about La Roux:
a) gravity defying Flock of Seagulls fringe what is like having a swoosh on your head
b) steel drums used on ‘I’m not your toy’ - STEEL DRUMS DO NOT HAPPEN ENOUGH IN POP, ARE THEY THE NEW BRASS SECTION, etc
c) seriously the most excited I have got about pop music for a mahoosively long time – where record companies have been falling over themselves to sign the next GA, and failed miserably by giving us The Saturdays, La Roux is a proper new pop star who doesn’t sound like anyone else and is THE FUTURE
d) even though she has got rid of it, her myspace quote was ‘falsetto in the ghetto’ and that is genius
Because a pie chart with four segments looks a bit rubbish, I added:
e) she looks like Tilda Swinton and Tilda Swinton has always had the whiff of genius pop icon about her
f) the whole Kitsune cat being called "La Roux" but not really fiasco which Gildas from Kitsune cleared up in an interview with us a few weeks ago - phew.
Brillant they may be, but don't just trust our Excel-created graphics on this one - go and listen for yourself. La Roux on the internets.
I did not get this to Becca in time as she was mid-pie, but the OTHER THING that is brilliant about La Roux is that she is NOT ORANGE. Dedicated to Superdrug fakery as I am - this, my friends, is progress.
LA ROUX...yes please
ALSO....if the pie chart had a growth it would be that la roux is fucking funny....quote 'each one of them is worth 5 white people' in reference to the 10 people from the london gospel choir singing on cover my eyes.... 'so its really like having 50 people in'...
