Ladyhawke - Ladyhawke
Ladyhawke's debut album came out on September 22, but we've been too damn busy listening to it to actually sit down and make a nice collage about it. Until now. We officially love it, because it makes us think of these things, and all of them are good:

DOWNLOAD! FOR FREE! Full Time Hobby Compilation
We "reviewed" this a couple of months ago when it cost just £1.99, but now Full Time Hobby are giving away their label compilation for free. Well, for a few of your details, but that seems like a fair deal in return for tracks from White Denim, The Hold Steady, Autolux and Viva Voce. Not bad at all.

It's Three-Video Thursday...
...please note this will not be a regular thing, what with that title being horrible and all. But we wanted to draw your attention to a) a live video of Vivian Girls playing in Brooklyn, b) the video for the new Bond theme which appears to exist only to show how many instruments Jack White can play, and c) the new video from Filthy Dukes for Tupac Robot Club Rock (hello, magnetic poetry) which also stars Plastic Little.

Crap Bands #2: The Chicago Women's Liberation Rock Band
Last week, in the inaugural Roby’s Rubs, we launched a new Lipster quest to find The Crappest Band In The World. It is a bit like the Lord Of The Rings, except that instead of dodging Ring Wraiths / trying to shake off a two-faced anorexic / restoring the throne of Men, we are having an inexpensive LOL at the expense of earnest noodlers.**

The Walkmen Answer Some Damned Silly Questions
The Walkmen's third album, You & Me, is out this week, and it is not putting too fine a point on it to say that it is absolutely bloody marvellous. We talked to front fellow Hamilton Leithauser about tennis shoes, fantasy collaborators and - justcallusRobertPeston - the credit crunch.

Katie From Sky Larkin: 'Is A Sarah Palin Costume Too Scary For Halloween?'
We like Sky Larkin a lot round these parts, so we were thrilled to have singer Katie Harkin tackle our big daft Questionnaire. We also found out that on the band's debut album, due in January, Katie played the actual black guitar that's on the cover of Sleater-Kinney's Dig Me Out. TOP INDIE FACT. Those questions, please...

Lykke Li And Bon Iver In A Fountain
Here's a video of Lykke Li doing Dance, Dance, Dance at a fountain with Bon Iver and friends playing some sort of back-up. But who does she remind us of?

How Does One Improve On Department Of Eagles' Album Cover?
We at the Lipster are lucky cats. Nice press people are sending us stuff on the daily. And that is lovely, obviously. But sometimes we get a bit tired and make arbitrary decisions on what we will spend an hour listening to, and what we will not. THIS IS WHY the album cover is very important...

Yo Majesty - Futuristically Speaking... Never Be Afraid
Yo Majesty's debut album is properly mental. We tried listening to it on a Monday morning once and it was not a success. However we have listened to it on Thursday night, Friday afternoon, Saturday day and Sunday lunch, and at all of those times it works. It's insanely danceable in parts, riot grrrl shouty in others, and the only drawback is that its length makes it a bit sloppier than necessary. But it is still loads of fun. Here it is, in pictures.

This morning, a press release plopped into our Inbox from the mighty Keane. And it has single handedly restored our faith in indie pop.

WIN! A Rude T-Shirt, Courtesy Of The Virgins
If you squint, this Virgins T-shirt is not very rude. If you look closer you'll see that it is really quite naughty indeed, what with it featuring lots of penises engaged in what can only be described as filth. We are too prudish to wear it out of the house, and so would like to offer it to you, dear, brave reader, as a competition prize.

WIN! BT Digital Music Awards Tickets
Apparently this "digital" lark is the thing of the future. So we're offering you the chance to win a pair of tickets to the BT Digital Music Awards 2008, which take place in London on October 1. We're not sure who's playing yet, but expect live bands and general award ceremony shenanigans (for example, a Crib slicing themselves open with a table - NB this is not guaranteed). It should be a Good Night.

Ladyhawke On Her Favourite Video Games
On the cover of Ladyhawke's mindblowingly awesome debut album (review coming on Monday), a painted Pip Brown is playing video games and has a Nintendo gun tucked into her pants. We got geeky with her in London a couple of weeks ago and talked games, console collections and how to make Wii characters gay...
