If This Week's Singles Were A Wife Of Henry VIII, Which Wife Would They Be?
Henry VIII fever! David Starkey is on Channel 4 tonight talking about how Henner's childhood might have made him handy with his chopping block, while you can see just how massive his armour was in real life in London right now, should you wish. So let's see how My Tiger My Timing, Frankmusik and Franz Ferdinand would shape up as his wives!

If This Week's Singles Were In Freaks & Geeks, Which Characters Would They Be?
Inspired by nothing more than getting stuck in an unfortunate and all-consuming DVD loop, here are this week's singles as characters from Freaks & Geeks. Starring Jack Penate, Lissy Trullie, Yo! Majesty, Joe & Will Ask? and Mr Oizo.

If This Week's Singles Were The Weather, What Weather Would They Be?
"Sunny, eh?" "Windy, eh?" "Cold, eh?" etc. Without weather talk in spring, we would have no conversations. It would be known as "the silent season". Thank god that's not the case. In honour of small talk here are the singles as weather. They are very indie this week...

If This Week's Singles Were YouTube Virals, Which Would They Be?
YouTube, eh? What a week it's had. In memory of what it once was, here are this week's singles as viral videos, even though we had to go to MySpace to get the music ones. The lord giveth, he taketh away. This week, La Roux, The Rakes, Metric and Hockey...

If This Week's Singles Were Winona Ryder Films, What Would They Be?
Inspired by nothing more than catching a Winona Ryder hour on the Biography Channel at the weekend, and realising just how formative those late 80s/early 90s 'Nona movies had been, here are this week's singles reimagined as her best and worst films. With thecocknbullkid, Oasis and Dan Black...

If This Week's Singles Were Social Networking Sites, What Would They Be?
Social networking, eh? Fancy. As your mum discovers Twitter and your great-grandma adds you on Facebook, now is a time to reflect on the important things, like whether Ladyhawke is more Twitter than Bebo...

If This Week's Singles Were Oscars Outfits, What Would They Be?
Last night we stayed up till a ridonkulous and very naughty 6am to watch the Oscars ceremony. And quite apart from the delicious randomness of Stephanie Beacham at one point shouting 'M.I.A, M.I.A, M.I.A' during a discussion of who should win Best Song, it was a glorious evening of borrowed bling and, at least in our house, top notch white booze and Louise Brooke wigs. This of course gives us an excuse to hurl red carpet-based insults and plaudits to this week's singles. Which we have done, after the jump.

If This Week's Singles Were Teen Dramas, What Would They Be?
After being described as a Hobnob in the Sunday Times yesterday - all sorts of brilliant - we thought about doing singles as biscuits, before remembering that we'd only already bloody done it (and have since done a complete about turn on The Promise, sorry GA). So instead, because we've been watching Skins and My So-Called Life in what may be a birthday-related crisis of age, here are this week's singles as teen dramas, starring Buraka Som Sistema, Brit-Brit, Gary Go and the awesomely awesome awesomeness of Wavves.

If This Week's Singles Were Characters In The Archers, Who Would They Be?
This week we imagine the singles as Archers' characters, which will make perfect sense to those readers who listen to Radio 4's superlative tale of everyday folk, but will baffle precisely everyone else. You should still read it though, otherwise we have wasted a whole morning and some of these records are - shock! - really quite good.

If This Week's Singles Were Snowmen, What Snowmen Would They Be?
SNOOOOWWWW! To celebrate the current collapse of the nation here are this week's singles as snowmen, from M83, Of Montreal, Jem, Daniel Merriweather and Coldplay. If you are south-easterly, though, you will have to wait til tomorrow to pop out to the shops, for today is officially cancelled.
